iPad: Revolutionizing Education
Life Just Got Easier
It is said that the new iPads are carving out the digital classroom. It has been proven to be a fantastic new asset to kids and adults with autism. It’s believed to be the start of the digital era of computing. Kids seem to respond better to the iPads than they do books and soon will use them in place of books in the classroom. Before, kids hated to study and do their homework or read a book; but now most kids are finding that doing homework on the iPad is a lot of fun. Kids can check-in with other classmates if they miss a class or school day to see what they missed as well as what homework needs to be done. Students can email each other and synch-up iPads to work together on homework assignments or work on group projects. This makes learning a lot easier and more productive. But it is a costly asset for parents already on fixed budgets that have gotten even tighter during this downswing. If the child loses or breaks it, it is not cheap to fix. The iPad cost just the same to replace as it did to purchase, making this alternative not practical for the parents. That’s one reason why this must become a school project and not a burden on the parents.
Students’ attention is lost while copying from the blackboard. So now teachers can send instructions from the iPad to the student’s iPad instead of turning around and writing it on the blackboard. Also instructions can be sent after school hours to the class. Teachers can assign a tutor or Honor Roll student to help other students with problems they may have.
The deans are excited about the opportunity to advance their school and raise the graduating rate. The iPads will make learning easier and more attractive to new students and widen the curriculum. Instructors will love the versatility of the new iPad. The iPad is sure to forge a new instructional climate in the classroom.
The Trustees and Administrators will love how it broadens the educational scope from the classroom through distance learning to online courses. It will give the college the option to add new electives and expand existing courses. With cost down, revenues up, and attendance soaring the iPad is a definite win for everyone.
I have enclosed a complete plan of implementation and analysis with surveys; but we must get started now. We cannot waste anymore of our children’s future. Below, I have provided several links to other sites that have a similar view towards the iPad in education. However, this radical approach that I have proposed to fix our broken education system is mine and mine alone. Yes, it does mean a total re-haul of the way we teach and learn. It’s not just some basic little tweaks. It will take guts and courage to make these kinds of changes. Sure, it will only affect the young so as we start the grand process we need to take extra care of the older kids and make sure they get a good education, too.
